Throwback Thursday - Pop Gem

Gina G - Ti Amo

Before Rihanna has Te Amo, there was an Australian Pop Singer named Gina G who released this song Ti Amo taken from her debut album Fresh! on the 26th May 1997 and this song peaked at #1 in Lebanon and a moderate success across the world. Hot on the success of Ohhh Ahhh..... Just a little bit  and representing UK on Eurovison Song Contest in 1996, Gina G was the IT Girl back then and she is one of the few Australian singers who cracked the US mainstream charts.
One of the highlights of Gina G's career is the album art of her debut album Fresh! which was shot by David la Chapelle and she was covered in chocolates. the Gen-X might not really understand this was a big news but things were so different back in the 90's and you don't really need to stick your tongue out to grab attention.

And this song Ti Amo is the song i used to listened to a lot, i still remember, i used to have this album called Now! which is  a collection of hits, it was in Side A track #8 which means it was the last track on the cassette. It was my favorite track and yes i used to rewind the song a lot, i believe this is one of the evergreen song that i will keep jamming to and am yet to find out what Ti Amo means even though i believe it is I Love You... Hehe :)
The beats of this song is quite similar to Jennifer Lopez Aint it funny and yeah, we all know how she loves ripping off other people's song, please check out the song and see for yourself.

The Beautiful Lupita Nyong'o

the oscar fever
every year, in the run up to the oscars there is always a break out star who shines be it in a breakout movie or at the red carpet. a decade ago, it was mostly  random white kids from the block making a splash to the likes of haley joel osment or abigail breslin but over the past few years it is the coloured women out of nowhere who makes heads turns in movies and at the red carpet. last year, it was Quvenzhane Wallis from Beasts of the Southern Wild and this year it is Lupita Nyong'o year with 12 years a slave.

growing up in a small town, i was always fascinated by a colored person and i find them extremely beautiful. i remember cheering them up when it comes beauty pageants shows and i grew up listening to their music. i used to consider vivica a. fox to be one of the sexiest women in the world and she blew my mind in independence day.
so it becomes very natural that lupita blows my mind everytime i see her walking the red carpet or making appearances in talk shows. the thing i like about her is she never tries too hard when it comes to talking and she knows how to carry herself really well and it is a great thing to finally be a breakout star after 30 (i actually thought she is around 16) starring in a steve mcqueen movie. i see her taking pictures with oprah, hanging out with the biggies but no egos and she seems to be very grounded coming a country in africa called kenya even though she was born in mexico.

i haven't watch 12 years a slave yet because i particularly refrain a movie that is depressing but i do wish her all the best in her nominations at the oscars, she might win or might not but am sure she is going to be a sure shot winner at the red carpet. at the very same time here i do wish jennifer lawrence the best as well and she blows my mind in american hustle
may the best girl win

The Big Reunion Returns

the big reunion is back!!

one of the thing that am looking forward to for the new year is my favorite show of last year 'the big reunion'. being a 90's boy i find it so cool to see all my favorite stars reunite talking dirt and crap that everyone loves to hear. it was a big hit last year and it was supposed to be a one off gig in hammersmith apollo theatre but it was extended to a nationwide arena tour in the uk and this year the same is expected out of the season.
this years the artist that reunite for the show includes my personal favorite a1, the everlasting eternal (without louise), michael jackson's nephews 3t, the spice girls replica of the noughties girl thing, and a super group called 5th story which consists of gareth gates, kavana, adam rickett, dane bowers from another level and kenzie from blazin squad.
this season is going on its 3rd episode and and it contains all the ingredients that make me love reality shows so much and the most interesting part that i love is the story of eternal. i love one of their songs i wanna be the only one which features bebe winans backin the day and the drama that happened between the lads in a1. i am quite surprised with girl thing saga, they seem all sugary and sweet back then but none of this reflects in the background which includes punching and pulling off each others hair.
the shocking news this year so far which is not that shocking to me is the confession of kavana who states that he is gay and he has to cover it all up back then but is now brave enough to tell the world even though no one really cares anymore, again my jam was mfeo back then which i still play at times, and also how kelle from eternal do not want to record any of songs with the sisters on their 2nd and 3rd album, also the big news to me is the tragic incident where 5 die hard fans died somewhere in asia when a1 did their album signings in a shopping mall.
i wouldn't want to discuss much more about it at this point in time now because the season is still going on and there is so much more mysteries that i want to know in the pop world back then, overall i might be a bit biased but last year a li'l bit spicier than this year to my judgement which can be because of my favorite popstars 911 and b*witched laying the smack down on each others face.
am looking forward to the future episodes and i promise guys i'll keep it posted
till then ciao
i have the link for the first 3 episodes, do check it out if you please
