the oscar fever
every year, in the run up to the oscars there is always a break out star who shines be it in a breakout movie or at the red carpet. a decade ago, it was mostly random white kids from the block making a splash to the likes of haley joel osment or abigail breslin but over the past few years it is the coloured women out of nowhere who makes heads turns in movies and at the red carpet. last year, it was Quvenzhane Wallis from Beasts of the Southern Wild and this year it is Lupita Nyong'o year with 12 years a slave.
growing up in a small town, i was always fascinated by a colored person and i find them extremely beautiful. i remember cheering them up when it comes beauty pageants shows and i grew up listening to their music. i used to consider vivica a. fox to be one of the sexiest women in the world and she blew my mind in independence day.
so it becomes very natural that lupita blows my mind everytime i see her walking the red carpet or making appearances in talk shows. the thing i like about her is she never tries too hard when it comes to talking and she knows how to carry herself really well and it is a great thing to finally be a breakout star after 30 (i actually thought she is around 16) starring in a steve mcqueen movie. i see her taking pictures with oprah, hanging out with the biggies but no egos and she seems to be very grounded coming a country in africa called kenya even though she was born in mexico.

i haven't watch 12 years a slave yet because i particularly refrain a movie that is depressing but i do wish her all the best in her nominations at the oscars, she might win or might not but am sure she is going to be a sure shot winner at the red carpet. at the very same time here i do wish jennifer lawrence the best as well and she blows my mind in american hustle
may the best girl win
